In the Corporate Plan 2008-11 (Adobe Acrobat Reader Document - 655.92kb), we set out the RDA's core strategy and key priorities for the next three to five years. We do this with an eye to the kind of economy that we want to see in South West England in 20 or so years' time: the Regional Economic Strategy (RES), published in May 2006 sets out a shared long-term economic blueprint for the region. This corporate plan identifies the contribution the South West RDA expects to make to achieving the goals of the RES.
This corporate plan also marks the beginning of a period of significant change for the RDA. The Government's Review of Sub-National Economic Development and Regeneration (SNR) published in July 2007 describes major changes in the role of regional development agencies and in our relationship with local authorities and others.
Given this changing landscape, we have taken the opportunity to review what activities and approaches will support the objectives in the RES in the most effective way. This plan is the starting point in ensuring our priorities are clear, shared with and understood by our partners.
Thank you to those of you who responded to us with feedback on our draft corporate plan. Following a discussion period (from 7 January to 15 February 2008), we redrafted our corporate plan and the final version was approved by government on 11 June 2008.
