Equality and diversity
Equality schemes and action plans
The South West RDA is committed to promoting equality of
opportunity and good relations between groups. We have
produced the following equality schemes and action plans, because
we see the value that this brings to business success and to the
development of our own organisation.
In November 2009 we reviewed progress against our equality
schemes. The findings are outlined in our Equality
Schemes Review Report.
We are currently working towards the development of our
Single
Equality Scheme. This will update our current disability,
gender and race schemes as well as show how we will promote
equality of opportunity for people of different ages, different
religions, beliefs or no belief, people who are lesbian, gay or
bisexual, and people who are about to undergo, are undergoing or
have undergone gender reassignment.
Equality impact assessments (EqIAs)
As part of our work on equality and diversity we have developed
a process known as Equality impact assessments to ensure our
strategies, policies, programmes and projects do not have an
adverse affect on individuals or groups of people because of their
age, caring responsibilities, disability status, gender, race,
religion or belief, sexual orientation or transgender status.
Equality South West
Equality South West
promotes equality and diversity throughout the region, and provides
advice and guidance to regional bodies such as the RDA. It has
developed seven regional equality networks (age, disability,
gender, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, and
transgender) that provide a link between equality organisations and
the public, private and voluntary sectors in the South West.
