All RDAs across England are closing by March 2012 (see transition and closure section). With our resources reducing steadily, this page has not been recently updated and the information below may not be current. If in doubt, please contact us directly.

Corporate Plan

Our refreshed Corporate Plan (published August 2009) is called ‘What Now’ and covers our plans for the next two years (2009 to 2011).

The core thinking behind our 2008 Corporate Plan 'What Next' remains the same, but the recession, changes in our circumstances and the lessons we’ve learned from the RDA Impact Report have demanded a change of emphasis. ‘What Now’ outlines how the Agency now intends to concentrate its money, influence and time on a narrower range of activities in order to speed the economic recovery and generate greater value from our investments.

Our priorities are listed under five key areas of work:

Low Carbon Economy

Enhancing activity to provide greater emphasis and investment in the drive to a low carbon, resource-efficient economy for the South West.

Successful Businesses

A more focused approach to retain and develop a competitive and innovative business base - encouraging innovation, research and skills.

Prosperous Places

A more selective approach to the transformation of key places that most help to improve the region’s economy.

Leadership and Advocacy

A more targeted approach to ensure that we develop an appropriate strategic leadership for the region and its economy.

Better Service: Better Value

Increasing our efforts to deliver a more effective and streamlined service, at a time of reduced public finance.

All of these require close work with a range of partners across private, public and voluntary sectors.
