Low carbon economy

There are compelling economic reasons for investing in a low carbon future and for pursuing a green recovery - and the South West is well positioned to drive this agenda. We are leaders in demonstrating how economic growth can be achieved within environmental limits and were recently designated the UK’s first Low Carbon Economic Area - but we need to do more.

Key priorities for Agency investment will be:

  • Sponsoring the development of low carbon technologies and developing a world-class marine renewables sector - an area where we already have a significant competitive advantage.
  • Stimulating innovation and growth in the environmental business sector.
  • Providing resource efficiency advice to business.
  • Leading the low carbon debate.
  • Developing green skills and jobs.
  • Supporting green entrepreneurs.
