The stretch of coast and countryside that encompasses Dorset, Poole and Bournemouth is a highly acclaimed visitor destination.  
 
The Dorset and East Devon Coast has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy will host the 2012 Olympics sailing events. Poole and Bournemouth have strong economies and have established active links with Southampton, Portsmouth and the South East.
