Hydra South West Ltd

Area Team: Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly

During the last year the South West RDA invested £600,000 in an extension to the headquarters of the Hydra Group at Indian Queens, resulting in the creation of 51 high skilled jobs.

The Hydra Group specialises in the design, development and manufacture of screens and filters for the water industry, and boasts a blue chip client base which includes nine of the UK's 11 water companies.

In total, the company has invested £2 million to expand its operations at Indian Queens. As well as an extension to the existing factory and new offices, a dedicated research and development and testing facility has been built on the site. Overall, the company has added 12,000 sq ft to its existing 14,000 sq ft premises.

The South West RDA provided £100,000 of funding towards the expansion, and an additional £500,000 came from the Government's Selective Finance for Investment scheme, which is administered by the RDA in Cornwall.

Hydra is a good example of an innovative company in the environmental technology sector, which is a priority for RDA investment.
