The most environmentally advanced business park ever built in Cornwall was opened in 2002 following a £4 million investment by the South West of England Regional Development Agency and the Objective One European funding programme.
Tolvaddon Energy Park, just off the A30 dual carriageway near Camborne, has been built on a brownfield site in the heart of what was once Cornwall's mining and industrial heartland.
The 19 business units, ranging from 750sq ft to 5,000sq ft, have been specially designed to minimise energy use and are aimed primarily at the environmental technology and high-tech sectors.
The units are heated by a cutting-edge geothermal system developed in Cornwall that harnesses the natural energy of the earth, and have higher than standard insulation, a rainwater recovery system and other features to minimise their impact on the environment.
