Today, White River Developments is delighted to announce
Thursday 29 October 2009 as the official opening date for White
River Place in St Austell, Cornwall.
With construction continuing at a pace, Sir Robert McAlpine is
about to hand over the vast Wilkinson unit to the retailer's own
construction team for internal fit-out. In the same week, the car
park is being handed over to the scheme's car park operator to
prepare it for 550-space capacity. Final roofing works are also
being completed and the last stages of the elevation are being set
in place.
White River Place is part of the £75 million St Austell town
centre redevelopment scheme - £31.5 million is being invested in
the project by the South West RDA with the remainder of the funding
from White River Developments.
Sean Finlay, Director of White River Developments comments: "We
are very pleased with how well the project is progressing. Everyone
is working hard and the team is firmly on schedule with the
finishing line now in sight.
"Advanced discussions are being held with several retail names,
both local operations and national brands, who are interested in
taking space at White River Place. Our intention is to provide a
complete shopping experience with a wide and interesting selection
of smaller independent businesses and big names that will
strengthen the town centre and the local business community."
Sandra Rothwell, Head of Regeneration in Cornwall for the South
West RDA adds: "There is much anticipation ahead of the opening of
White River Place in St Austell. The RDA is very proud of its
association and involvement in redeveloping Cornwall's largest town
for the benefit of all. This is an exciting and sustainable project
and the RDA is committed to supporting this priority place and
unlocking the town's business potential."
White River Place is a substantial new retail development in
Cornwall's largest town that incorporates three storeys of retail
space, along with restaurants, 69 flats and a 550-space car park.
Many exciting retail names have already signed up to open at the
centre; amongst them Peacocks, New Look, Starbucks and a large
format Wilkinsons store.
