Team Devon launch Action Plan

26 June 2009

Team Devon will launch their Action Plan and commitment to delivering an Olympic legacy at the Devon Games to Inspire being held in Barnstaple on Sunday July 5th 2009.

The launch will take place during a reception at the event, which has been partly funded by Team Devon, as part of a day of sports, culture and entertainment culminating in an exciting closing ceremony where Ruth Lorenzo and Diana Vickers (X Factor) will be singing live on stage. They will round off an afternoon of live music performances by a number of talented young bands from across Devon.

1,400 participants, between the ages of eight and sixteen are expected to compete in the sports events. Other activities include dance workshops and street sports competitions on the new Rock Skate Park, which will run alongside traditional sports including indoor athletics, cricket, tennis, gymnastics, volleyball and tag rugby, and the North Devon 'Konya Mika' event where young people from the Devon Youth Service will also be participating in a wide range of activities.

The Games are open to the general public with the sport events starting at 9.40am and live music from 12pm. X-Factor's Ruth Lorenzo and Diana Vickers will be on stage from 3.55pm through to the closing ceremony at 5pm.
