South West England receives significant financial support from the European Union and the South West RDA has a key role to play alongside partners to deliver European Structural Fund programmes. 
 
In order to achieve the goal of becoming the most competitive and dynamic knowledge based economy in the world, set by the EU, there will need to be a significant increase in emphasis on competitiveness, innovation and the knowledge economy.
