Area Teams

Team Cornwall

Team Cornwall was established in 2006 following an initial meeting at the Eden Project in June 2006. The current Chairman is Adam Paynter with secretariat support from Cornwall County Council and Cornwall Enterprise.

Priorities for Cornwall

A number of priorities and a major opportunity have been identified. The priorities are:

  • Young people - for example, through sponsorship of potential Olympians by local business; through curricular development in schools and colleges; cultural exchange with other countries etc.
  • Developing volunteering - for example by encouraging a network of trained local volunteers able to support potential Olympians and Para-Olympians; and/or able to take part in the event in London itself etc. The LSC ESF Convergence tender calls for projects to assist disadvantaged young people and voluntary, community and social partner development have included a requirement to build upon the needs of major events including Rescue 2010 and the Olympics.
  • Building a lasting infrastructure of co-ordination - for example, between colleges and tourism for language development
