The incredible success of Team GB in Beijing has generated huge excitement across the country. As Britain readies itself for the greatest show on Earth, Team Somerset is ready to play its part for the county. 
 
This countywide group was established in 2008 to develop and deliver AIM (Aspiration, Inspiration and Motivation) for Success - Somerset's Legacy Strategy inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  
 
Team Somerset is about "People and organisations working together to deliver lasting benefits to Somerset from 2012 and other sporting activities." The benefits will be pursued in the following areas: business development, tourism, sporting opportunity, cultural celebration, learning and skills and community engagement.  
 
As part of Team Somerset's programme, the group has created the following initiatives:

• The Team Somerset 500 Club - which provides funding for aspiring young athletes
• 2,012 Things To Do in Somerset - a list of activities submitted by members of the public over the coming four years
• A new Team Somerset Events Fund - soon to be launched for local event organisers

The group will also be pursuing national, regional and local opportunities in connected with the Cultural Olympiad programme.
