West of England Aerospace Forum

Aeroplane wing assembly Established in Bristol in 1994, the West of England Aerospace Forum (WEAF) works with industry, the public sector, academia and other stakeholders. It provides a focal point for activities to boost the competitiveness and growth of the region's 500-plus companies serving the world's aerospace industry.

WEAF is able to exploit the skills and experience of many of the region's leading experts in a wide range of associated areas - to help business in a variety of ways.

There are five main areas of activity that have been identified as important for the South West of England:

  • development of networks/clusters to take full advantage of the concentration of aerospace businesses in the South West;
  • skills development to have the most capable workforce possible;
  • competitiveness development to enable South West supply chain companies to compete in the global market;
  • promotion of the South West as the 'aerospace region' to encourage growth and to recognise the importance of aerospace to the area;
  • communication to share a common view of where the industry is going.
