NHS Innovations South West (NISW) helps NHS staff with innovative ideas and inventions that could benefit and enhance patient care. It gives impartial advice and assistance to Trusts and inventors regarding the development opportunities for these ideas.. NISW is funded by the Department of Health and DIUS, it is a partnership between the NHS and PERA. 
 
NISW services include initial advice, legal agreements, guidance regarding idea protection, technical, business feasibility, regulatory, prototyping and financial appraisal to ascertain the opportunity yielded by the idea. 
For those with commercial value NISW aims to identify commercialising partners to create revenue for the Trust, inventor and developer. This is done via NISW network of Trust Innovation Leaders, Business Development Consultants and partnerships with industry and other organisations.
