Funded by the South West RDA, the Connecting South West Partnership programme commenced in 2002 and successfully concluded in 2008.
It comprised 7 county based broadband partnerships who worked together to improve productivity and profitability in businesses through increasing their effective use of broadband and internet applications.
The programme included:
Over the course of the programme over 24,000 small and medium sized businesses were assisted to make better use of the internet and IT, adding an additional £179 million to their turnover.
The programme facilitated a great deal of networking and knowledge sharing between the individual broadband partnerships, two of which went on to be selected as European exemplar projects in the EU's 2007 "Bridging the Broadband Gap" conference in Brussels.
