Great Western Mainline Economic Assessment

Great Western Mainline Economic Assessment Halcrow Group Ltd was commissioned by the South West RDA to assess the current contribution of the Great Western Mainline (GWML) to the regional economy and to identify those outcomes that would add most value to the region. 
 
The study is set within the context of the developing Regional Spatial and Economic strategies. In taking forward the Regional Economic Strategy (RES) the South West RDA has identified the following transport infrastructure priorities:

  • tackling the peripherality of the far South West;
  • reducing congestion in the Greater Bristol area; and
  • improving access to UK, European and international markets.
