Globalisation

South West Debates - GlobalisationOver the last fifty years, globalisation and technological change have expanded trade and driven global growth and prosperity. Open economies have exploited the opportunities of globalisation to boost competitiveness and productivity, improve living standards and sustain economic growth.

The benefits of globalisation cannot, however, be achieved without change. Resources have shifted from traditional industries to new ones and this process is accelerating as developing and emerging economies increase their share of world trade.

Continued prosperity and competitiveness will require continued investment in skills, innovation, flexibility and enterprise. The Globalisation Debate will explore what globalization means for the South West and what businesses in the region need to fully exploit the opportunities afforded by the global economy.
