Wave Hub Project

Consent Application

Aerial photo of Hayle estuary and the power station siteOn 23 June 2006, the South West RDA applied to the Department of Trade and Industry (now the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform) and the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs for consent to construct the Wave Hub. The applications were made under the Electricity Act 1989, the Coastal Protection Act 1949 and the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985. The applications include a Wave Hub: Environmental Statement (June 2006) (Adobe Acrobat Reader Document - 8226.36kb) which explains results of our research into the likely effects the project will have on the environment, fishing, shipping, surfing, visual impact and other factors. There is also a short Wave Hub: Non-Technical Summary (June 2006) (Adobe Acrobat Reader Document - 2110.96kb). In September 2007 consent for the Wave Hub was granted. Copies of the decision letters can be downloaded from the Documents page.
