In July 2003, the South West Regional Development Agency commissioned the study, Abattoirs and Meat Processing Facilities in the South West of England (Adobe Acrobat Reader Document - 1252.50kb), to provide analysis of major current and, where possible future, issues facing the abattoir and meat-processing sector in South West England. The report is intended to inform future RDA policy and action and the work of Meat South West and other partners. 
 
The study team, led by Cooper Simms and ADAS, included input from the Meat Training Council, the Centre for Rural Research (Exeter University) and Alan Stevenson of Kinnaird Associates.
