The aim of Rural Renaissance is: "To help rural communities in the South West respond to and influence economic change, by supporting the development and implementation of sustainable projects that use innovation and enterprise to:

• create prosperity and generate employment;
• improve delivery and access to services; and
• realise the value of the environment as an economic asset."

To turn this aim into practical action, the following strategic priorities will be pursued: 
 
Priority 1 - To assist the development of a dynamic and sustainable economy in rural areas. 
 
Priority 2 - To improve access to work, education, training and retraining opportunities. 
 
Priority 3 - To encourage innovative service delivery through the development of multi-use facilities, support for social enterprise and improved access to, and use of ICT. 
 
Rural Renaissance will be delivered through Delivery Partnerships operating within the strategic framework set by Sub Regional Partnerships for that area. It will address the identified strategic priorities above.

Partnership Guidance

The Partnership Guidance Manual sets out the policy framework for delivery of activities funded by SWRDA through local delivery partnerships (and in particular Rural Renaissance Partnerships). It was first issued in June 2003. 
 
The Agency has revised the Guidance Manual to make it more user friendly and the revised version was made available to partnerships at the Rural Renaissance Practitioners' Workshop on 22 March 2004.
