Tourism Skills Network

Tourism Skills Network (TSN) is a small, strategic regional team which ensures that partnerships and regional and national level links with key stakeholders are maintained.

The project provides regional links to Business Link and Train to Gain; Regional contract management of any regional skills projects through LSC or ESF funding; Regional link to national and Tourism skills information and support to us in our tourism lead.

Five targets

The project supports the five targets of the National Skills Strategy.

  1. Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism sector (People 1st)
  2. Productivity
  3. Customer Service
  4. Retention
  5. Employer Business Engagement and Achieving the 2020 Skills Mix (as determined in the Leitch Review 2006).

Activities to date

Since its launch, Tourism Skills Network has:

  • engaged over 2000 businesses which are involved in training
  • supported 2,706 individuals in skills development
  • secured over £3 million of additional funding which has been levered in (LSC, ESF, Co-financing)

Initiatives

Initiatives include EFQM business improvement network, the Executive Masterclass Programme and Quality Assurance events (Directors, Owner Managers) with 269 businesses already participating and the Aspiring Managers’ year long development programme, with 80 delegates participating.
