• OECD Economic Outlook - May 2011 - May 2011
• Modelling Methods: Projection & Simulation Models for the South West - March 2011
  The South West RDA uses formal economic models to create projections of economic prospects for the South West and other UK regions and to undertake simulation exercises investigating the impacts of various ‘shocks’ to the South West economy. This report describes these models, including their structures, specifications, underlying data, and other key features. It also provides an overview of how the models have been used in practice.
•  Public Sector Job Losses Mapped - February 2011
  The paper presents a suite of maps depicting the spatial distribution of different aspects of the impact of public sector job losses across the South West as known at the time of analysis.
• Economic Growth - January 2011
• Special briefing: South West GVA - December 2010
  A special briefing on the new regional Gross Value Added (GVA) data released by the Office of National Statistics on 8th December 2010. GVA is the measure of total annual economic output or income used to monitor spatial performance and make inter-regional comparisons across the United Kingdom and the EU. For the first time, the new release provides overall GVA estimates for 2009 (regional) and 2008 (sub-regional), as well as an industrial breakdown for all geographies for 2008.
• The Economics of the Comprehensive Spending Rreview (CSR) - 21 October 2010

The CSR provides details on departmental spending reductions over the next four years. These will dampen demand across the SW region. This briefing provides an immediate reaction to the announcements.

• Transport in the South West: does it matter for the performance of the economy?

This paper examines the relationship between transport and the economy in SW England. It looks on the importance of transport drawing upon regional research and statistics. This is especially relevant following business leaders in the region expressing concern over regarding proposed cuts and delays to major transport.

• Public Expenditure in SW England - May 2010

Each year the Treasury releases statistics on public expenditure by region and function. Known as the PESA (Public Expenditure Statistical Analyses), the 2010 version has just been released. PESA 2010 is an important baseline from which to judge the expectation that many areas of public spending will be cut to help reduce the county’s budget deficit. This document summarises the latest figures for 2008/9.
