Enterprising Britain 2010
Enterprising
Britain is a nationwide competition to find the most
enterprising place in the UK. The competition is now in its
sixth year and is a key part of the government's drive to increase
rates of entrepreneurial activity in the UK.
It aims to:
- Encourage people to get involved and make their ideas happen,
whether it is in school, at home or at work, and inspire the next
wave of entrepreneurs.
- Celebrate the success of pioneering examples of enterprising
places through the UK.
- Provide inspiration for others to do more to support enterprise
in their area and help the UK economy continue to grow.
So, if through stimulating social cohesion, supporting business
growth, encouraging globalisation, creating new businesses, driving
up entrepreneurial skills, championing enterprise in the community,
and/or catalysing a new generation of entrepreneurs, you’ve worked,
perhaps alongside other local organisations, to help transform the
socio-economic fortunes of a place (neighbourhood, village, town,
city), this competition could be for you.
Entries for the 2010 regional heat are now
closed.
Regional entries were shortlisted in early July and from this
shortlist a regional winner will be selected. Once the 12 regional
winners from across the UK have been selected, they will be visited
by members of a high profile national judging panel. Together the
national judging panel will decide who should be crowned the
national Enterprising Britain 2010 winner.
The national winner is put forward to the European Enterprise
Awards, details of which can be found on the
European Commission Enterprise and Industry pages
