Grant for Research and Development (GRD)

GRD is now provided by the Technology Strategy Board

Due to the closure of all Regional Development Agencies we are no longer able to accept any new GRD applications (including Initial Proposal Forms). The lead delivery body for the scheme from April 2011 is the Technology Strategy Board.

What is Grant for Research and Development?

Grant for Research and Development is a Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) business support initiative which provides funding to help individuals and small and medium-sized businesses research and develop technologically innovative products and processes. There are different levels of grant available for different projects.

Prior to April 2011 the South West RDA delivered the grant in this region, drawing on the advice of independent technical specialists and internal expertise to appraise applications and decided which projects received funding. Grants were awarded on a discretionary basis.
