Grant for Research and Development (GRD)

GRD is now provided by the Technology Strategy Board

Due to the closure of all Regional Development Agencies we are no longer able to accept any new GRD applications (including Initial Proposal Forms). The lead delivery body for the scheme from April 2011 is the Technology Strategy Board.

Application process prior to April 2011 (for information only)

The application process

Business Link can provide advice on Grant funding schemes and can help you evaluate which scheme is appropriate for you. They may be able to offer assistance in locating a qualified consultant to support you in this process, or you may be able to approach your accountant or lawyer for assistance.

Details of your local Business Link can be found on the website: www.businesslink.gov.uk, or by calling 0845 6009966.

Initial proposal form

An Initial Proposal Form was available before completing the main Application Form to assess if the project was a suitable fit for the scheme.

Full applications

Prospective projects were subjected to detailed internal and external appraisal of technical, financial and strategic aspects of the proposal, in order that the South West RDA could make clear and informed decisions on which projects should receive funding. We aimed to process applications within 90 days (or 42 days for Proof of Market and Micro projects), but in order to achieve this prompt responses to queries were required. Applicants needed to anticipate this time scale when submitting an application.

Where application forms were sent

Grant for R and D was managed by the South West RDA Business Innovation Team. The team was responsible for paying grant claims and monitoring the progress of successful projects, as well as appraising new applications.

Grant for R&D documents
