Science City Bristol

The Bristol City Region was named as one of 6 UK science cities in 2005. This title was given to the area because of its:

  • world-class universities
  • successful companies with a science and technology focus
  • potential to use science and innovation to boost the region’s economy

Science City Bristol covers Bristol, Bath and the surrounding area. The definition of Science is very broad. It covers technology, social sciences, and engineering and digital media, as well as physical, chemical and biological sciences.

Science City Bristol's vision is to ‘support and develop the area's science and innovation to deliver sustainable economic and social benefit’. This vision will be achieved through 3 main areas of activity:

1. Connectivity

2. Increasing investment:

  • Promoting the high level science and technology in the region
  • Supporting inward investment activities

3. Public engagement:

  • Raising public awareness of the high level science and technology taking place
  • Exciting the public through science based events
  • Raising the enthusiasm and skill levels in science and technology of our school children.

Science City Bristol is supported by a number of partners from the public, private and academic sectors.

More information on the Science City Bristol partners and programmes can be found on the Science City Bristol website.
