New Industry, New Jobs (NINJ)

The South West RDA is helping to deliver the New Industry, New Jobs (NINJ) agenda within our region. This follows the strategic vision outlined by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) in 2009. We recognise that new technologies will drive our businesses in the future and provide the basis for growth in a low carbon economy.

Key technologies

NINJ identifies key technologies that will provide high value jobs and technology driven growth in the future:

  • Digital
  • Life Sciences
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Composites
  • Plastic Electronics
  • Low Carbon

Research and reports

As part of the understanding of how we can develop NINJ, the South West RDA led cross-RDA research activity looking at where areas of expertise and excellence in the NINJ technologies currently exist. The findings are outlined in an overall National Report and 11 separate Technology Reports (recognising that low carbon represents a number of different technologies).
