Policy

The South West RDA works to ensure the South West’s strategies and aspirations are taken into account when new European policy is developed. We also help the region get the most out of the European policy and programmes.

Currently, core work includes:

  • Exploring the post-2013 EU policy and funding landscape - although a new programming period began in 2007 and will run until 2013, the shaping of the next period is currently under way.
  • Ensuring that we respond to Commission Green Papers - we are currently looking at the Green Paper on adapting to climate change.
  • Engaging with Territorial Cooperation, the third objective of the European Regional Development Fund alongside Competitiveness and Convergence.
  • Developing a strategic approach to the Commission’s funding programme for research and development, the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) in collaboration with the Agency’s Innovation team.
